House considers data broker restrictions in expansive foreign aid debate

Legislation restricting data brokers’ transactions with designated “foreign adversaries” has been folded into a “sidecar” measure as part of a House package of emergency foreign aid bills, which contains assistance for Israel, Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific including Taiwan.

The House on April 19 approved the rule for debating the package on an 316-94 vote. Democrats provided the margin for passage in the Rules Committee on April 18 and then again on the House floor, where dozens of conservative Republicans revolted...
