Failed bid by House Finance leader highlights potential loophole for data brokers in privacy legislation

An unsuccessful bid on the House floor to establish finance-sector jurisdiction over data brokers is calling attention to a possible escape route for the controversial “third parties” from new requirements in a separate privacy bill that is poised to advance in the House and Senate Commerce committees.
