Colorado AG breaks with governor in bipartisan letter against moratorium on state AI legislation

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser (D) joined 39 of his counterparts across the country -- including 14 Republicans -- in opposing congressional Republicans’ effort to preempt enforcement of state legislation governing artificial intelligence, splitting with Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) on the issue.

House Energy and Commerce Republicans attached the state preemption amendment to budget reconciliation legislation set for consideration in the chamber’s Rules Committee May 21.
