This year’s AI transparency index from Stanford finds industry not measuring up

An annual Foundation Model Transparency Index -- FMTI -- released by Stanford University’s Institute for Human-centered Artificial Intelligence shows companies are far less willing to disclose what goes into developing their systems after the center changed its metrics to provide more meaningful information.

In a Dec. 21 release of its latest stories, the center pointed to the results of this year’s index with the headline, “transparency in AI is on the decline.”
