FTC Commissioner Holyoak details enforcement approach for ‘regulating’ AI

The Federal Trade Commission can guide the development of artificial intelligence without hindering the technology’s advance by carefully employing its enforcement powers to “signal” appropriate practices to companies, Commissioner Melissa Holyoak said, providing examples that highlight a focus on privacy, particularly for children.

“I'm really encouraged by President Trump's leadership here,” Holyoak, one of the FTC’s three Republican commissioners, said during an Oct. 21 event hosted by the Consumer Technology Association.
