Guidance on AI chip controls accompanies Commerce agency’s withdrawal of ‘diffusion’ rule

The Bureau of Industry and Security has released three guidance documents related to exports of artificial intelligence chips along with its first formal announcement that it is withdrawing the “AI diffusion rule” released on an interim basis at the end of the Biden administration and due to take effect May 15.
