GOP lawmakers voice objections to HHS plans for lab checks on AI

House Republicans are raising concerns that the Department of Health and Human Services could incorporate artificial intelligence assurance labs into its regulatory approach for AI, saying the move would hurt innovation, Inside Health Policy reported.

The Food and Drug Administration is weighing using the labs and site-specific local validation to fill regulatory gaps, while saying even those approaches won’t be enough to help clinicians ensure health AI tools are safe and effective.
