DHS issues framework for ‘safe and secure’ AI deployment by critical infrastructure

The Department of Homeland Security has released a 35-page voluntary framework for “safe and secure” artificial intelligence deployment by critical infrastructure, based on recommendations from an advisory board including the heads of major tech and other companies, researchers, labor, civil rights and other civil society groups.

The recommendations issued Nov. 14 were crafted by the DHS AI Safety and Security Board, a body created by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas under a directive in President Biden’s 2023 AI executive order....
