Civil society advocates see algorithmic transparency as tradeoff for state pre-emption in privacy bill

More civil liberties advocates are expressing profound disappointment that a section on algorithmic accountability was dropped in the latest draft of the American Privacy Rights Act, saying the issue is as important to their side as state pre-emption is to business groups in the broader effort to set a federal standard on the collection and use of data generated on individuals.
