Senior EU officials say AI Act adoption expected in April following landmark agreement

Senior officials in the European Union say the EU’s historic AI Act is likely to be formally adopted in April, with certain prohibitions going into effect six months later and much of the law to be implemented in two years.

“We will put the agreement into the final law and it should be adopted in April,” a European Commission official told reporters on a Dec. 11 press call.
