Shutdown: NIST, CISA expect one-third of employees to continue working

The federal government entered shutdown mode at midnight, but the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency are each expected to keep approximately one-third of their employees working, according to recently updated department-level contingency plans, Inside Cybersecurity reported.

Under the Commerce Department plan, NIST’s workforce will be reduced from 3,426 to 1,183 employees during the shutdown, which would keep 34.5 percent of the agency’s workforce in place.
