Senate Commerce sets hearing on privacy and AI

The Senate Commerce Committee has set a July 11 hearing on “how AI accelerates the need to protect Americans’ privacy.”

“The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) systems has changed the landscape for data privacy,” according to a Commerce Committee announcement on July 8. “AI has allowed online surveillance, detailed consumer profiling, personalized fraud and deepfakes to be done at scale, with little human involvement and minimal cost.”
