Select panel calls for drastic expansion of export controls on China
The U.S. should “dramatically” expand export controls on semiconductor manufacturing equipment, or SME, made domestically and abroad to prevent China from acquiring high-end tools that aid in development of AI, according to the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, Inside U.S. Trade reported.
The report, released Oct. 7, says “the PRC’s procurement of SME presents military, trade, economic security, and human rights threats:”
