U.S. semiconductor makers seek tax credits as Trump targets foreign sources

The U.S. semiconductor industry is backing the reintroduction of a bipartisan tax-credit bill to help build out the tech manufacturing facilities need for artificial intelligence, as President Trump is poised to set tariffs targeting foreign chip producers.

The bill, H.R. 802, was introduced by Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) last week as Trump was gearing up to unveil his tariff-focused strategy for boosting U.S. businesses, the combined effect being what could be a one-two punch against foreign manufacturing.
