Trump budget proposes historic jump in Bureau of Industry and Security funding for AI export controls

The Trump administration’s proposed 59 percent funding increase for the Commerce Department Bureau of Industry and Security aims to counter threats to U.S. artificial intelligence and advanced technology leadership from China and other adversaries by beefing up export control teams “to scrutinize miniscule details of direct exports from the United States.”
