Thune, elected Senate majority leader, has credentials on AI policy

Sen. John Thune (R-SD), an active player on artificial intelligence policy and author of a leading piece of bipartisan AI legislation, has been elected by his Senate GOP colleagues to serve as majority leader in the incoming 119th Congress.

Thune will replace Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) – who hosted a series of closed-door Senate AI “insight forums” last year -- as majority leader and brings to the table his own credentials on artificial intelligence policy.
