Tech industry group urges FCC to drop proposal on disclosing AI in political ads

The tech industry-based Center for Data Innovation is strongly objecting to a Federal Communications Commission proposal to require identification of artificial intelligence-generated content in political advertising, saying it could chill technological development and veers into issues that should be addressed elsewhere, if at all.

“The FCC should abandon this proposal that would arbitrarily penalize the use of AI in political ads, confuse voters about the veracity of these ads, and create different disclosure standards for streaming and social media platforms....
