Stability AI blasts plaintiffs’ amended complaint in landmark copyright infringement lawsuit

Lawyers for Stability AI are blasting a narrower amended complaint filed by plaintiffs after a federal district court last year granted the company’s request to strike all allegations in the case except those involving direct copyright infringement claims.

The company now is arguing for dismissal of those claims saying plaintiffs have failed to demonstrate how its generative artificial intelligence product violated copyright protections, setting up for a potential ruling that could set new legal standards on the use of data...
