Sens. Wyden, Fetterman press DOE on AI-enabled research for environmental solutions

Sens. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and John Fetterman (D-PA) are urging the Department of Energy to employ its massive laboratory resources on the use of artificial intelligence to find environmental solutions that meet the nation’s climate policy and national security goals.

The senators are urging DOE “to prioritize research that harnesses AI to accelerate the discovery, synthesis, and evaluation of novel compounds of national interest,” in a Sept. 19 letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
