Senate Republicans advance Vought’s nomination to lead OMB, shrug off Dem boycott

The Senate Budget Committee has approved on an 11-0 vote the selection of Russell Vought for a second stint as Office of Management and Budget director, ignoring a Democratic boycott of the business meeting spurred by a controversial OMB memo this week on federal spending.

Vought was a leading architect of artificial intelligence policy during President Trump’s first term and is expected to play a key role again, if confirmed, including on possible uses of AI to reduce federal spending....
