Senate parliamentarian clears state AI moratorium provision in ‘big beautiful bill’

The Senate parliamentarian has given the OK to including a 10-year moratorium on implementation of state artificial intelligence laws and regulation in the massive reconciliation package to implement President Trump’s tax-and-spending agenda.

The parliamentarian determined on June 21 that the moratorium provision passes muster under the Senate’s Byrd Rule for inclusion in reconciliation legislation, according to a release from Senate Budget Committee Democrats.
