Senate Armed Services panel eyes accelerated AI use to counter China’s cyber attacks

A Senate Armed Services subcommittee is examining how to accelerate the Defense Department’s use of artificial intelligence to counter China’s cybersecurity attacks, which could include legislation to reform acquisition rules and shift the Pentagon to an “implementation-first” approach to AI.

“Recent cyberattacks against U.S. critical infrastructure are a stark reminder of the growing sophistication and persistence of cyber threat actors,” Senate Armed Services cyber subcommittee Chairman Mike Rounds (R-SD) said in his opening statement at the March 25 hearing....
