Sen. Warner planning AI legislation based on coming NIST standards

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) is preparing legislation that would put standards emerging from President Biden’s Oct. 30 executive order on artificial intelligence into statutes as companies hurriedly compete to deploy the technology.

“I've … been working on a bipartisan basis on how we take the [National Institute of Standards and Technology] standards that have come out on the [Executive Order] basis and actually try to legislate it,” he said.
