Researchers say worst AI election fears did not materialize, shift sights to midterms

The Aspen Institute has issued a report saying the worst fears about disruptions and disinformation from artificial intelligence in the 2024 election did not materialize, in part because of heighten awareness about the potential threats, laying the basis for mitigating AI effects in the upcoming midterms and European elections.

“While AI did not deliver an outsized disruption, this past year laid the foundations for the future,” says the Jan. 21 report released by Aspen Digital.
