Researchers to presidential AI advisors: Energy efficiency standard would hinder innovation

Researchers from industry and academia agreed in telling a presidential advisory panel on artificial intelligence that adopting an energy efficiency standard for AI models would not work because applications for the transformational technology are still in development and the power needed to meet those needs is unknown.
