Rep. Clarke’s algorithm bill sets AI impact assessment requirements
The algorithm accountability bill to be discussed at a House hearing this week would require artificial intelligence deployers above a certain revenue threshold to conduct and report impact assessments on automated decision-making systems.
The bill would also provide additional resources to the Federal Trade Commission to regulate and enforce the assessment reporting requirements.
The Algorithmic Accountability Act was introduced by Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) and in the Senate by Sens. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Cory Booker (D-NJ).
