Privacy group exits NIST consortium as Trump administration drops AI ‘safety,’ ‘fairness’ in new agreement

The Electronic Privacy Information Center will no longer participate in a consortium established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s AI Safety Institute to work on developing standards for the technology, following recent changes at the agency which reportedly include removing key terms from its agreement with members.
