Privacy advocates warn DOGE use of AI bolsters Trump’s immigration enforcement

Data privacy advocates are warning that use of artificial intelligence by the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” has enabled cross-referencing of the government’s massive databases to identify individuals for deportation under the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement agenda.

DOGE access to Department of Education databases was highlighted during a May 1 virtual briefing hosted by the Center for Democracy and Technology, as an example of sensitive government data being processed by AI to target foreign students for deportation.
