Parents sue OpenAI for product liability after another teen suicide, while state AGs issue warning

The parents of 16-year-old Adam Raine have filed a complaint against OpenAI claiming officials at the company, including CEO Sam Altman, knowingly put a faulty product on the market without any warning to consumers and caused the wrongful death of their son.

In the Aug. 26 complaint filed in the Superior Court of the State Of California for the County of San Francisco, Matthew and Maria Raine argue “ChatGPT’s design prioritized engagement over safety.”
