OpenAI opposes California’s frontier AI bill citing preference for federal action

A high-profile artificial intelligence bill in the California legislature would pull human resources away from efforts to ensure the safety of foundational AI models that would be better applied at the federal level given their implications for national security, according to OpenAI.
