NTIA official highlights open-source licensing for dealing with widely available model-weights

As the National Telecommunications and Information Administration prepares its report for the president on how to balance the potential risks and benefits of entities making foundational artificial intelligence models broadly accessible, a key official is considering the licensing regime that has long been used for distributing traditional software.
