NIST announces plans for $100M R&D funding opportunity on AI and semiconductor production

The National Institute of Standards and Technology before the end of the year will launch a public competition to participate in a $100 million research and development project on how artificial intelligence can be used in “sustainable” semiconductor manufacturing, the agency says in a notice of intent.

“The CHIPS Research and Development Office (CHIPS R&D) intends to announce an open competition for industry-informed, university-based collaborations demonstrating artificial intelligence-powered autonomous experimentation (AI/AE) into sustainable materials and processes relevant to semiconductor manufacturing,”...
