New York Times asks court to force Microsoft disclosure of AI development decisions

The New York Times in its landmark lawsuit against Microsoft and OpenAI is asking a federal court to force the tech industry giant to disclose information about its support for OpenAI’s development of its ChatGPT generative AI model.

According to the Times, Microsoft has designated 98.5 percent of the documents it has produced in the case as “highly confidential -- lawyers’ eyes only,” which the media company says undermines its ability prosecute its case about copyright violations.
