New California AI law has some fans in tech community, may draw congressional interest

The enactment in California of SB 53, the Transparency in Frontier Artificial Intelligence Act by state Sen. Scott Wiener (D), has drawn just enough support from the tech sector that it might attract attention from members of Congress looking for modest safety requirements to pair with a federal moratorium on state AI regulation.
