Microsoft’s Smith encourages federal government to advance AI regulation and innovation

Microsoft vice chair and president Brad Smith praised the U.S. government’s approach to setting standards as generative artificial intelligence moves into a new phase of widespread use, in an appearance at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce “State of American Business 2024” event.

“I have been impressed with how the U.S. government has leaned in on AI,” Smith said, observing that federal officials have “engaged with industry to understand the technology” and have “pushed for solutions.”
