Meador confirmed for spot on FTC as fired Democrats criticize DOGE ‘onboarding’

The Senate has voted 50-46 to confirm Mark Meador for a place on the Federal Trade Commission, filling the FTC’s third Republican seat after President Trump fired the body’s two Democratic members.

The party-line April 10 vote came after the Senate Commerce Committee had advanced the Meador nomination on a 24-4 vote in early March, reflecting escalating partisan tensions over agency cutbacks and “Department of Government Efficiency” activities, among other issues.
