By Charlie Mitchell / February 22, 2024

The Justice Department has named Princeton’s Jonathan Mayer as its chief science and technology advisor and as DOJ’s first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer under a requirement in President Biden’s AI executive order.

As Chief AIO, Mayer “will work on intra-departmental and cross-agency efforts on AI and adjacent issues. He will also lead the Justice Department’s newly established Emerging Technology Board, which coordinates and governs AI and other emerging technologies across the Department,” according to DOJ’s Feb. 22 announcement.
