Inspector General finds shortcomings in Patent Office’s oversight of AI uses

A report from the Commerce Department’s Inspector General advises the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to modernize inadequate governance structures around uses of artificial intelligence, finding that current “weaknesses increase the risk that USPTO will develop unreliable, untrustworthy AI systems.”
