Industry says U.S. tech leadership hurt by Commerce export controls to limit China’s AI access

The tech industry is blasting the Commerce Department’s recently expanded export controls on semiconductors to limit China’s access to chips and other computing capacities for developing artificial intelligence, arguing the overly broad requirements would jeopardize, rather than promote, U.S. global leadership on advanced technologies.
