Industry, public-interest groups say fairness should accompany push for U.S. AI innovation

In the interest of winning an artificial-intelligence cold war with China, U.S. policymakers should not neglect measures to earn public trust in the technology, according to industry and digital rights groups.

“Just responding to China constantly … that is not the way you build a new ecosystem that could be truly economically revolutionary,” Sara Collins, director of government affairs at the consumer advocacy group Public Knowledge, said.
