House Science announces ‘deep dive’ into DeepSeek AI advances

The House Science Committee has announced an April 8 hearing to examine national security and technology implications from China’s release of the DeepSeek advanced artificial intelligence model.

The Science research and technology subcommittee hearing “will focus on the development of DeepSeek's models, comparing their capabilities to those of American AI systems and exploring the role of U.S. technology in their advancement,” according to the announcement from Science Chairman Brian Babin (R-TX) and subcommittee Chair Jay Obernolte (R-CA).
