House Energy and Commerce leaders introduce data privacy bill, keeping markup on track

House Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and ranking member Frank Pallone (D-NJ) have formally introduced the American Privacy Rights Act in advance of a June 27 markup, without provisions on algorithms contained in previous drafts but still addressing artificial intelligence-related issues such as data security and minimization, as well as data brokers.
