Gov. Newsom vetoes automated decision-making bill opposed by tech sector

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has vetoed SB 7, a heavily contested bill to regulate the use of automated decision-making systems in employment, while signing measures focused on artificial intelligence issues such as data provenance and regulating chatbots to protect children.
