FTC official highlights AI in focus on ‘blended’ ads targeting kids

A senior attorney for the Federal Trade Commission said artificial intelligence is heightening attention to the need for enforcement against advertisements that are difficult to distinguish from content, especially for children.

“This is an issue, when kids are not able to understand the difference between the advertising and the content,” said Michelle Rosenthal who works in the advertising division of the FTC’s consumer protection bureau and specializes in litigation and policy related to ad tech.
