Former U.S. Rep. McNerney, now in California legislature, pushes for state AI regulation

California state Sen. Jerry McNerney (D), who left Congress last year as a leading voice on tech policies, has joined the push in his home state for regulating artificial intelligence, having introduced a preliminary legislative proposal in his first few days in office that would task the Technology Department with regulating emerging AI technologies.
