FCC targets AI-backed robocalls in enforcement action following New Hampshire incident

The Federal Communications Commission directed a cease-and-desist action against a company that allegedly employed artificial intelligence-generated voice cloning in a robocall campaign targeting New Hampshire voters prior to the recent presidential primary in the state.

“The FCC’s Enforcement Bureau today issued a cease-and-desist letter against Texas-based Lingo Telecom -- the entity that is alleged to have originated robocall traffic using AI-generated voice cloning to spread misinformation to voters prior to New Hampshire’s primary election,” according to a Feb. 6 release...
