Director Locascio to depart NIST, head up nonprofit U.S. standards organization

National Institute of Standards and Technology Director Laurie Locascio is leaving the agency in January to become president and chief executive officer at the American National Standards Institute, capping a nearly three-year term that included major initiatives on artificial intelligence and an update to the landmark cybersecurity framework.

Locascio’s selection to lead ANSI was announced in an Oct. 8 release from the nonprofit standards organization.
