Defense bill’s pared-back AI provisions signal retreat on Sen. Schumer’s broader goals

The recently released defense policy bill negotiated by House and Senate leaders for anticipated quick passage this month includes provisions on artificial intelligence that are largely focused on Pentagon operations such as procurement and systems management.
