Data privacy bill heads into markup as business and digital rights groups take last shots

The House Energy and Commerce Committee today marks up the American Privacy Rights Act, landmark consumer privacy legislation years in the making that faces opposition from digital rights groups after algorithm safety provisions were jettisoned, and ongoing criticism from business groups who say the bill is unworkable and will stifle innovation.
