Cyber agency official cites interoperability as key for transparency standards on AI, machine learning

Interoperability must be a feature of standards developed to address transparency needs and Bill of Materials initiatives for artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, according to Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency official Allan Friedman.

“One of the key U.S. government interests in this space is to make sure that whatever comes out of this is something that supports a thriving global ecosystem, rather than having competing standards,” Friedman said during a Nov. 9 webinar.
